Product Details
Researchers analyzed wastewater from 12 East Tennessee catchments to determine whether cychlorphine could be detected through community-level surveillance. Cychlorphine was detected in seven samples and measured in four samples collected from one rural community along Interstate 75. The measured concentrations and estimated community-level amounts indicated sustained exposure during the sampling period. The findings provide the first reported evidence of cychlorphine in wastewater and suggest that wastewater monitoring may help identify emerging synthetic opioids and support earlier public-health responses.
