This CDC guide helps parents and caregivers understand the physical, emotional, and social changes experienced by teens ages 11–17. It discusses growing independence, changing friendships, and adjustments in the parent–teen relationship. Guidance encourages parents to support decision-making, maintain connections, and care for their own well-being. The included three-page activity worksheet invites reflection on parents’ teenage experiences, lessons they wish to share, and personal support needs.
This project is funded under a grant contract with the State of Tennessee,
Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
