Tianeptine, commonly known as 'gas station heroin,' is a dangerous opioid-like substance often sold as a dietary supplement in gas stations and online. It is not approved by the FDA for any medical use in the U.S. and has been associated with severe health risks, including sedation, respiratory depression, coma, and withdrawal symptoms. Since 2016, poison centers have reported increasing cases of tianeptine toxicity, with many patients requiring intensive care.
