Nitazenes are emerging synthetic opioids that are significantly more potent than morphine and pose high risks of overdose and dependence. Their effects are similar to other opioids, including euphoria, sedation, and respiratory depression, but their potency varies widely. Naloxone can reverse nitazene toxicity, though multiple doses may be needed, and mixing them with other substances increases overdose risks. Nitazenes are often misrepresented as non-opioid drugs, leading to accidental overdoses, especially among non-opioid users. Treatment options include opioid substitution therapy, rehabilitation, counseling, and withdrawal management, with emergency support.
