Ketamine is a dissociative drug used medically as an anesthetic and sometimes illegally for recreational purposes, causing effects like hallucinations, detachment from reality, and altered consciousness. It is typically sold as a white or off-white powder, pills, or liquid and can be swallowed, snorted, injected, or smoked. While the risk of death from ketamine alone is low, misuse can lead to physical harm, dependence, withdrawal symptoms, and long-term health issues such as ketamine bladder syndrome and mental health problems.
This project is funded under a grant contract with the State of Tennessee,
Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
