Alcohol Screening and Brief Intervention for Youth: A Practitioner’s Guide helps health professionals identify and address alcohol-related risks among children and adolescents ages 9–18. It introduces two screening questions about a young person’s drinking and friends’ alcohol use. An age-based risk assessment helps professionals determine the appropriate response. The guide outlines four steps covering screening, guidance or risk assessment, advice and assistance, and follow-up support. Supporting materials address confidentiality, motivational interviewing, and referrals for further assessment or treatment. It can be used in primary care, emergency departments, and other health care settings.
