Product Details
This 2026 trial examined whether genetic information could improve antidepressant prescribing. It enrolled 1,460 adults and children and used publicly available prescribing guidance. Among participants with actionable drug-metabolism results, genetic guidance did not significantly improve depression symptoms at three months compared with usual care. At six months, remission was higher in the genetically guided group—48.3% compared with 39.4%. The findings suggest a possible longer-term benefit while leaving questions about durability and broader application. The research includes Vanderbilt and Meharry affiliations, giving it additional Tennessee relevance.
