Accessible by calling or texting 988 or chatting via 988lifeline.org, the service is available across the United States and its territories.

The system connects individuals to a national network of over 200 local crisis centers, ensuring that help is often localized and relevant to the caller's community. Specialized support is also available for Veterans and LGBTQI+ youth, with Spanish-language services and interpretation in over 250 additional languages.
