Identifying Trauma Therapy for Your Child is a one-page infographic published in 2026 by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. It helps parents and caregivers understand what to look for when choosing a therapist for a child who has experienced trauma. It describes treatment components such as trauma-focused assessment, caregiver involvement, safety, coping skills, and processing difficult experiences. Suggested questions address a provider’s training, experience, treatment approach, and ability to meet the child’s background and developmental needs. The resource encourages caregivers to participate in treatment and consider whether the provider remains a good fit for their family.
This project is funded under a grant contract with the State of Tennessee,
Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
