Who We Are
TAADAS is a statewide, consumer-oriented, association with its beginnings in 1976, whose mission is “to educate the public and influence state and national policy decisions in order to improve services to those who are affected by alcoholism and/or drug addiction.” TAADAS represents thousands of consumers in recovery, family members, healthcare professionals & providers. TAADAS Mission To
educate the public and influence state/national policy decisions in order to
improve services to those who are affected by alcoholism, drug dependency and
other addictions. Purpose
and Objectives To promote the common interest in the prevention, control and eradication of alcoholism, drug dependency and other addictions; to work in close cooperation with agencies concerned with alcohol and drug abuse, and other addiction issues; to facilitate cooperation with all agencies interested in the health and welfare of the community; to impact legislation regarding alcohol and drug abuse and other addictions; to educate the community regarding alcohol and drug abuse and other addiction issues; to encourage and support the development of alcohol and drug abuse and other addiction services in areas that are underserved; to enhance the quality of services provided by Association members; to serve as a resource for Association members; and to further communication and professional interaction among those members. TAADAS recognizes the value of all effective treatment approaches that respect the dignity and safety of the person served. TAADAS does not endorse one particular treatment approach, but has served as a voice for the Twelve Step treatment model and recognizes the Twelve Step model as an effective treatment modality. Goal Our goal is to champion the cause of quality addiction services in Tennessee, and advocate unceasingly for those who still suffer from the ravages of addiction and for the addiction professionals who serve them.
